Hongkong Post iAM Smart-Cert
The Government has launched the "iAM Smart" platform to provide a digital identity to all Hong Kong residents free of charge, which enables them to use a single digital identity and authentication to conduct government and commercial transactions online. For details, please refer to iAM Smart website of the Digital Policy Office.
Hongkong Post iAM Smart-Certs are designated for the Subscribers who are holders of "iAM Smart" accounts to conduct digital signing with legal backing under the Electronic Transactions Ordinance.
iAM Smart-Certs that are issued to Subscribers for free with one-year validity period will be under the custody of the "iAM Smart" system.
An iAM Smart-Cert contains the following information of the Subscriber:
- Subscriber’s name as it appears on the applicant’s Hong Kong identity card;
- The Subscriber’s Hong Kong identity card number in an encrypted form;
- Subscriber Reference Number (SRN) generated by the Hongkong Post CA system
Reliance Limit of Hongkong iAM Smart-Cert
The "Reliance Limit" as defined under the Electronic Transactions Ordinance in respect of one iAM Smart-Cert is HK$200,000.
The "Reliance Limit" as defined under the Electronic Transactions Ordinance in respect of one iAM Smart-Cert (Minor) issued to a person under 18 is HK$0.
