Hongkong Post Bank-Cert (Bank)

A Bank-Cert (Bank) certificate is issued to a bank with a valid banking licence issued under Section 16 of the Banking Ordinance (a "Bank"). Each time a bank has successfully been issued with a Bank-Cert (Bank), its name and the scope of the Designated Transactions permissible for the Bank-Cert (Bank) shall be specified in Appendix E of the Bank-Cert Certification Practice Statement.

Bank-Cert (Bank) certificates can only be used by the Registration Bank for use in the Designated Transactions specified opposite to the name of that Registration Bank in Appendix E of the Bank-Cert Certification Practice Statement for this type of certificate.

Currently, Bank-Cert (Bank) certificates have been issued to the following Registration Bank(s).

Name of Registration bank	Designated Transaction
The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited	Creation of a digital signature by the bank specified opposite on an e-cheque which is to be drawn on such bank.
CMB Wing Lung Bank Limited *	Creation of a digital signature by the bank specified opposite on an e-cheque which is to be drawn on such bank.

* "Wing Lung Bank Limited" is renamed to "CMB Wing Lung Bank Limited" with effective from 1 October 2018.

A Bank-Cert (Bank) certificate contains the following information of the Subscriber:

Name of Registration Bank;
Name of Authorised Unit;
Registration Bank company/business registration number; and
A unique Subscriber Reference Number

Hongkong Post Bank-Cert (Bank) certificate may be issued with a validity period of 1 to 3 years. The Registration Bank shall pay all subscription fees and administration fees.

Please note:

Starting from 21 August 2024, Bank-Cert (Bank) is issued only with a maximum of 3 years validity period. For details, please refer to the relevant announcement.

Reliance Limit of Hongkong Post Bank-Cert (Bank)

The "Reliance Limit" as defined under the Electronic Transactions Ordinance in respect of one Bank-Cert (Bank) certificate is HK$200,000.
