Hongkong Post Bank-Cert (Corporate)

Hongkong Post Bank-Cert (Corporate) certificate is issued to any organisation (including a corporation) that holds a bank account with the Registration Bank identified in the certificate. The organisation shall in its application for the Bank-Cert identify one or more individuals, (whether acting singly or jointly), who has been duly authorised by the organisation to use the Bank-Cert (Corporate) issued to that organisation. Bank-Cert (Corporate) certificates issued via a particular Registration Bank can only be used by the Subscriber in Designated Transactions specified opposite the name of that Registration Bank in Appendix E of the Bank-Cert Certification Practice Statement.

Currently, Registration Bank(s) listed in the following table have made use of Bank-Cert (Corporate) in their online banking system for Designated Transactions as specified in Appendix E of the Bank-Cert Certification Practice Statement:

The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited Creation of a digital signature by the Subscriber of the Bank-Cert on an e-cheque as the drawer which e-cheque for a sum in Hong Kong Dollars or US Dollars or Renminbi is drawn on the Registration Bank specified opposite.
CMB Wing Lung Bank Limited * Creation of a digital signature by the Subscriber of the Bank-Cert on an e-cheque as the drawer which e-cheque for a sum in Hong Kong Dollars or US Dollars or Renminbi is drawn on the Registration Bank specified opposite.

* "Wing Lung Bank Limited" is renamed to "CMB Wing Lung Bank Limited" with effective from 1 October 2018.

A Bank-Cert (Corporate) certificate contains the following information of the Subscriber:

  • Subscriber Organization Name registered with the Registration Bank;
  • Authorised User's name registered with the Registration Bank;
  • Email address (optional);
  • Name of Registration Bank; and
  • A unique Subscriber Reference Number

Hongkong Post Bank-Cert (Corporate) certificate may be issued with a validity period of 1 to 3 years. The Registration Bank shall pay all subscription fees and administration fees.

Please note:

  • Starting from 21 August 2024, Bank-Cert (Corporate) is issued only with a maximum of 3 years validity period. For details, please refer to the relevant announcement.

Reliance Limit of Hongkong Post Bank-Cert (Corporate)

The "Reliance Limit" as defined under the Electronic Transactions Ordinance in respect of one Bank-Cert (Corporate) certificate is HK$200,000.

Note: With effect from 31 March 2010, Hongkong Post Certification Authority has terminated all Registration Authority ("RA") for old version of Bank-Cert operation and ceases to issue old version of Bank-Cert.
